Window winder mechanism

Post by tspin »

I replaced the driver side ww mechanism with a new one that was in the trunk when I got my 1973 Sport Coupe. It now works perfectly to wind the window up but not to wind it down. Winding it down just causes the wire to get loose and unspool without moving the window at all. Yet to figure it out. Any tips?

Somebody once posted a really good diagram of the winding wire routing on here years ago, I bet it can be found with a search, but it may take awhile.

It definitely sounds like the cable isn't routed correctly, or wound the wrong way on the window regulator drum.

Here's a picture, although it's for a spider not a coupe. But maybe it will help.

Bryan

Thanks. The thumbnail says it all and I know I've routed it wrong. I'll get at tomorrow with this knowledge.

Thanks again
