1985 pininfarina won't start when hot
This intermittent problem is happening more often and is very annoying. Yesterday I took a jumper wire with me just in case I used it on the temp sensor which I thought might be the problem but didn't help. I also pulled off the cold start connector thinking that might help neither did, I just sat and waited until it cooled enough to start. Someone mentioned (different car) that it might be the double relay I don't even know where that is or what it does. My question is where do I go from here any help would be great. I have put a new pick-up coil, gas tank, temp sensor and made sure the charcoal filter is breathing. thanks for reading. m rieger swo

The problem sounds like heat soak on electrical components.
This is common as people rarely replace some parts, as many people were told they are "good forever".
Most likely you need to replace your ignition coil and control module.
When these items (especially the control module) get overheated the car won't get spark and won't start. Once this unit cools off for 30 minutes or so then presto the car fires right up.

Test your distributor cap. I had similar problem with a Chinese manufactured cap. When the engine got warm it would misfire and eventually quit and not re-start. When it cooled the car ran perfect. After testing all my ignition components with my trusty ohm meter I found that the resistance from the cap contacts to plug in increased when the cap was warm.

I had a similar issue. Started fine when cold, but not when hot. Replaced the double relay - didn't help (now have a spare). Turned out it was the fuel pump. Did you replace it when you replaced your fuel tank? If you can get the cover off the AFM, you can check it (when the car is hot and won't start) by turning the ignition to on and manually opening the AFM. If the fuel pump is working, it will make a noise. If not, it's pooched.
