What is that trim???
I have a 1980 spider 2000. I have molding or trim that is about midway on the door. It is a chrome channel with an insert that is dry rotted and shrunk. Anyone know where I can get new inserts?

Are you talking about the dealer/owner installed aftermarket body side molding on the exterior? Those are not a Fiat OEM item.jrsherm11 wrote:I have a 1980 spider 2000. Those have fallen out of fashion and been replaced with self stick plastic strips that come in a small roll however an autobody supply may be able to match up and provide just the replacement rubber strips for them.
Most will replace them with either the 5/8" or 7/8" extruded stick-on plastic chrome with the black centers:

Yes, I believe that is what I am talking about. I had no idea they were not fiat, they are riveted on so I thought they were factory. thank you so much for the info!

Re: What is that trim???
These were a very popular add-on trim item that helped reduce the likelihood of door dings from careless fellow motorists opening their doors against yours. I remember helping my dad install these strips on his 1973 124 sedan, but I never saw anything available but the peel-n-stick variety.

You may be able to find some by searching for rubber insert molding.
Here are a few I found this morning with Custom Auto having the best selection at decent prices.

Be mindful that you have to cut it a tad longer than the metal rail and work it in or it will shrink back and start to gap over time.
