Two decorative items. My Pininfarina badge has come off the chrome mount. What do you use to glue it back on?
The chrome decorative strip that inserts into the armrest...and has chrome flaking off, what do you do to clean it up? Paint?

Re: Badge adhesive and chrome strip paint
The best automotive adhesive I have found is 3M 80010 (or 80019), available at NAPA.
If the chrome is peeling off you might look for a used replacement. I've never heard of a chrome paint that's any good, but I know there are some new products that might be.

Re: Badge adhesive and chrome strip paint
+1 on the 3m tape
My local advanced auto sells a flexible chrome trim that fit snugly into my armrest and looks near perfect. To cap it I bought chrome caps from one of the usual vendors. In my opinion it looks great and has held up well.

Re: Badge adhesive and chrome strip paint
3M trim adhesive is probably the best choice for the badge.
Duplicolor Chrome Paint is pretty good but your probably better off buying the replacement strips from Vicks or AR.

Some have found generic plastic chrome in small rolls at their local autoparts stores that is a fairly good match too however it might be hard to find something like 3/8 inch width that it takes for less than the real thing costs so the two strips from Vicks or AR at around $13 each might end up being a bargain. This is to me a case of your being better off just buying the right stuff from one of our vendors since the alternatives will likely cost about the same to potentially more and will be a compromise so why pay more for a compromise when the real thing is available at reasonable prices.
AR also has a close enough match economy version that's about half the cost of the OEM style at $14.99 for a set of two and around what you might pay for the can of Duplicolor Paint:

Hi Rodo,
I removed the chrome finish then sanded the plastic and painted the inserts to match the color of my "83 Pininfarina.

I bought the OEM style strips from AR and they are way too wide to fit in the channel. Any suggestions about where to find the real Part?

What did AR say when you contacted them about this? They have a pair of close fits and individual OEM style strips so which ones did you get the close fits or the OEM? Regardless of which one you ordered they would probably appreciate finding out that they need to check inventory to ensure that they did not get a batch that are too wide and will likely make things right for you.NedRed32 wrote:I bought the OEM style strips from AR and they are way too wide to fit in the channel. You may also just have armrests that have shrunk back a bit and may need to be left out in the sun to warm up so that the strips can be more easily worked in.

I paid a bit more to get the OEM ones. AR basically told us to try again and force them in. I tried again and it really doesn’t fit. Even started tearing the leather a bit. If I cannot find the real part,I’ll probably just sand the old ones down and paint them chrome.

Re: Badge adhesive and chrome strip paint
I bought the self adhesive ones and ended up putting a small ss screw at the very end on the bottom to keep the force of the sharp curve from backing it off. Use a large OD screw thread and it will hold in the armrest material. Can't see the screw and it works fine. The clip up top holds the other end well.

Re: Badge adhesive and chrome strip paint
If they are covered with leather then the OEM strips for the rubber armrests will be a tight fit. You may have to use two putty knives covered with masking tape to spread the leather covered groove in the armrest so it will accept the OEM strip working it in an inch at a time.NedRed32 wrote:I paid a bit more to get the OEM ones.
