Hi guys,
my drivers door electric window will go up but not down. I have to roll it manually which is a very slow process. I'm hoping this problem is in the door and not the dash switch because the dash panel is a pain to get at.
Any ideas?
Jim

Re: Electric window won't go down
Most often when a window goes one direction and not the other the cause is the switch. The same 2 wires are used from the switch to the window motor. Usually the motor that turns one way will turn the other way. Most often switches fail in the up position You are fortunate to have the issue of the window not opening.

Thanks, so does that mean I need a new switch or can the old one be fixed?

I have taken them apart, cleaned the contacts and reassembled them. I can't tell you how long they worked after the repair because i did it for others not myself. Some people install relays to extend the life o the switches.

Look under the door Panel as well, There are two bullet connecters that do get oxidized. Clean them, May resolve your issue.
