Valve cover gasket replacement

Post by lufs »

I have a fuel injected 82 spider. Can you change the driver’s side valve cover without removing the upper intake assembly?

Sometimes you can, other times you can't. You won't know till you try. Sorry.

It is possible, I have done it a few times. You need to remove the RH side valve cover first, and air intake hose, spark plug wires, temp sensor connections. Then if you fold over the rear heater hose you can shift the LH cover around to get it out. Also the gasket needs to be detached from the cover or there won’t be enough clearance to get it out.
