I wanted to modernize my dash to feel more like a modern car, with the Navigation and Radio higher up in the dash. However I'm sure everyone that has tried probably ran into the same issues. The Head unit won't fit because of the heater vents. I searched and search and found some head units out there are do no have DVD or CD players and take up about 2 inch.
I also grab some carbon fiber vinyl that was super cheap to mask my old damaged wood paneling, and had some scrap wood for to relocate the wiper knobs and seatbelt lights.
If anyone is interested I did all of this under $200, and with everything from Amazon.

I considered doing the same with a NAV and Bluetooth unit.

Re: Modernizing the dash
If I were to do it again I would go with a 10 inch head unit. All the newer cars have the screen popping out a little bit covering up the 1/4 inch gaps between the instrument panel and glovebox . Plus the mps look a little better. All-in-all im happy.spidernut wrote:I considered doing the same with a NAV and Bluetooth unit.

Re: Modernizing the dash
Here's my custom Polished Aluminum Dash. The gauges were what cost. I am currently installing a FITech TBI based EFI system on my Custom installed Chevy 4.3L V6 that has over 300hp.
Cheers!
