looking for side mirrors that work. The ones I have look pretty good but the pass side does not move enough to be useful.
the Empi flag style that I have seen (mini) doesn't work on the side of these cars: more for VW bugs/
ideas please.

I have the stock style black flags and they work as they should with a good field of view.

I just cleaned them up and gave them a coat of Rustoleum WipeNew Trim Restore and they came out looking like I had just bought new ones. I also treated all the rubber bumper parts and they too look good as new even after several months of Florida Sun. Note that you do have to read and follow the directions to get good results as there is a little bit of skill involved to get the application procedure right.
On one side to be honest I did have to repaint the base since it was metal and not plastic so I would have to say I have one original side view and one replacement.

Same boat as you, I have California type mirrors that looked good, but the PS was worthless.
AR has generic Alfa type mirrors that look good and are functional. I'm pleased with the purchase.

I installed bullet mirrors on both sides. For the PS, I replaced the mirror with a cheap "fish eye" mirror I bought at Pepboys.
The mirrors are something like this:

The convex mirror was something like this, but the same size as the mirror in the bullet.
