Replaced my aging wood console this weekend, as well as replaced the clock glass, repaired the clock, replaced the shift boot, and added chrome gauge bezels. Here's some before and after pics:

Re: Dash restoration
Looks really good. You know your going to have to get a dash cover or new dash now to go along with the great looking wood and chrome.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

Looks great! Is that African Khaya or Oukume? Looks like a variant of it. Good stuff. Sometimes sold as African Mahogany.

Re: Dash restoration
It is indeed African Mahogany. Online pics of the wood were difficult to tell how it would look in person, but we are happy with the results.
I did buy a dash cover as well, but after trying to fit it, I'm debating on whether to go through the effort to install or not. Knowing the dash underneath will be pretty much ruined, and I'm not convinced we'll love it after installed.

Looks very nice. Amazing how changing the clock glass makes all the other gauges look better.
How did you get the shift boot to seal properly at the bottom? My original ring/clamp thing broke and I haven't found a good work-around.

A new shift boot retaining ring will run you about $20.nelsonj wrote:Looks very nice. Amazing how changing the clock glass makes all the other gauges look better.

Re: Dash restoration
Do you maybe have a link to where you got the African Mahogany? Looking to do this soon and I love how it turned out.
Thanks

You may want to try http://www.veneersupplies.com, or http://www.boulterplywood.com. Both are well known to me, honest and excellent.
