URL for links all the same now
I want to share the link to a discussion from the forum, but when I copy the URL for any specific topic, it just takes you to the home page of the website... I remember in the past, each page had a unique URL that allowed for different discussion to be copy & pasted, now that seems to be gone... am I missing something

Re: URL for links all the same now
I know this is an old thread, and maybe I'm just clueless since I'm a relative newbie, but I also can't post weblinks to prior threads on this forum. Anyone have any ideas if this feature still works, and if so, what am I missing?
Thanks,
-Bryan

I was able to do it (I think!). I click on the link in the address bar, copy it and then paste between the URL tags that you can select at the top of the message box.

Re: URL for links all the same now
But what if you are trying to send a link (topic specific url) to a group outside of fiatspider.com?
Recently I was trying to share a link to the electric spider 124 post with some of the WI folks, but a copy and paste of the URL only resulted in a link to the FS.com home page.
That’s no fun. Sharing information is what makes this site so great. If we cannot introduce new members to the content that they gravitate towards with a simple copy/paste of a url we might as well go back to faxing newsletters to each other.

Re: URL for links all the same now
In my case, the address bar at the top of my browser (Firefox) always shows "www.fiatspider.com/forum.html" no matter where I am in the forum or which posting I happen to be on. So, if I copy this address and insert the link into a posting, that simply takes you back to the main page of the forum. Not very useful.
However, if I manually copy the address for the title of the particular posting (such as "URL for links all the same now" on this thread) and then insert that into my posting, that seems to work. For example, the link to the beginning of this particular thread is: http://www.fiatspider.com/f15/viewtopic ... 12&t=37169
As far as posting links outside of this forum, you might have to be logged into this forum for them to work. Not sure on that, though.
