I've decided to pull the engine and transmission to deal with the smoke, leaks, crunches and whines.
Can anyone recommend a good machine shop in Ottawa that can deal with these engines and a good transmission shop that can deal with these transmissions?
I assume good reviews can be posted for all to see. You can PM me if you're not comfortable posting a bad review
A couple of transmission questions, too.
Does anybody have any experience installing the Lada transmission sold by AR? Their website talks about bending the gear lever. How hard is that and what does it look like when it's done?
Also, I see that many of the transmission parts come in "replacement" and "OEM", with the OEM parts being much more expensive. Is the added cost worth it?
Thanks!

Re: Ottawa Machine Shop & Transmission Shop Recommendations?
The best machine shop in Ottawa is Hosie and Brown - all the Porsche mechanics depend on them. I'd be surprised if they couldn't handle a Fiat engine.
Although I've never used them, I've heard good things about B&N Transmission. Out here in Perth, all the car guys swear by Advance Automotive for transmission work.
Given the choice between OEM and "replacement" parts, I'd go with OEM every time.

Seems Hosie & Brown closed down their machine shop. They recommend Stagra Automotive.
Does anybody have any experience with Stagra?

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the recommendation. I'll look into those guys as well.
So far, no recommendations against any shop, so that's a good sign!
