Because we connect to it unencrypted. It uses HTTP and not HTTPS. Any site that you connect to unencrypted shows that marker on Chrome. Connecting unencrypted means that someone listening in on your session (say if you are using wi-fi in a coffee shop and someone is running a sniffer program) can read the traffic going back and forth. With your bank that's a really bad idea. With the FiatSpider forum it's not such a big issue.

AJ, thanks for the explanation and you are spot-on. I have not gone to HTTPS yet, I probably will but it does increase the cost a little bit. That said, you are correct, there really is no risk here. Now, when it comes to donations, it's important to note that ALL of that traffic and transaction goes directly through PayPal's security and is totally safe and secure.When you click on the donation button, you're in PayPal at that point.
