Re: Hub removal
The hub and axle are one piece. The rear axles are retained by a snap ring behind the outer flange. Manual procedures states:
"Remove four bolts securing brake shield. Remove axle shaft snap ring with pliers A.81114 as shown. (picture in shop manual). Attach axle puller A.47017 to axle shaft and pull shaft out."
You shouldn't need either special tool listed. Once the snap ring is off a good yank by hand will usually pull the axle out. This assumes you've already pulled the calipers and rotors off first. There is an oil seal behind the shaft so if you are pulling them, you'll want new ones on hand. https://autoricambi.us/collections/driv ... oring-seal

Before we pull rear axles perhaps we should ask why you want to pull the rear hubs.Rotoariesarecool wrote:basically how do ya do it, all the cars I've done it on have axle nut but in the rear it is a concave piece that I dont know how to remove
You only really do that when the rear axle seals/bearings need replacing or you are changing the differential which on a 76 should be a front load third member.
Its not like you can repack them with grease and such since they are lubed by the gear lube from the differential case.
If the lug bolt threads are damaged you would just insert a Heli-Coil or change over to studs without removing them or be replacing the axle shafts altogether.

Re: Hub removal
Thank you first time working with solid rear axle. I am taking them off because I want to convert to the commonly swapped 4x100 bolt pattern and studs, and I dont trust my self to drill those holes so I am sending them to a machine shop

Re: Hub removal
one last quick question, you need to take out the axles to access the caliper brackets correct?

Re: Hub removal
I didn't on my 1978 when I removed them to clean them up but there may be differences I am not aware of. With a 40+ year old car there are often changes from the norm done by prior owners that make for inconsistencies. Mine for example is a SOHC Turbo Diesel conversion and the doors do not match the owners manual having no rubber oiling plugs referenced for the lock mechanisms nor the under dash vents shown in the owners manual.Rotoariesarecool wrote:one last quick question, you need to take out the axles to access the caliper brackets correct?

You read the notes on the bottom of the Vicks Corsa wheel page I assume? You may need to roll your fenders for these to work without rubbing.
