Race Engine Build advice for SCCA Road Racing

Hello all! This year I will be preparing my '79 spider for some SCCA road racing and I need some advice as all of this is so overwhelming. ANY advice on engine performance upgrades is appreciated. Specifically, what is the best vendor when searching for rotating assemblies/core engine components? Vicks? Allison's? AR? Does anyone recommend the crate Engines from Vicks? Or should I send the block out to get rebuilt? Also would appreciate recommendations on places to send the engine to, I'm located in AZ but will consider sending across the border. It is a 2.0. Thanks for any and all help!

As long as you asked for "ANY advice", this is my 2 cents...

This is not political comment but, you best get the engine across the
boarder and back before they put up the wall ......

Don't blame me for this comment, I did not bring up the topic of crossing the board.......
I assumed that he did not mean the Canadian boarder.. (Although I might be wrong here )

I'd recommend posting at the forum at mirafiori also. There are a number of tenured Fiat twin cam racers there who can offer what they've learned. I'd study the rules for whatever class you plan on racing first.

If you're not doing the building yourself (which is what I gather), then besides sources you've listed, I gather that Jon Logan (midwest 124) has a very fine reputation as a builder of heads, engines, complete setups & any combination thereof.

If I recall there was also someone on mirafiori recently who was selling a LOT of nice go-fast 124 SCCA racing parts as he was moving from SCCA to a vintage racing venue where many of his previously used gear could not be used. I don't race cars, but I race bicycles & there's little better value in go-fast stuff there than picking up bits from the higher tier or more tenured racers.
