Remember how he would talk about a bunch of stuff all at one time and ask Why ?
Sort of like this ,,,. Like , why do they put door lugs on the doors when the doors shut fine with out them? Mine are chewed off at the screws and the doors seem to work just fine.
And why couldn't I take the catalytic converter off and just run a straight pipe where it was? I have No DEQ or smog testing out in the country where I live . And besides the law officers Probably don't know if my car had one on it when it was new anyway.
Another thing is my speedometer and Tachometer both read higher than what acually is ? What good are they when I have to calculate what speed I am doing anyway ..Some one hooked them up so why dont they give me the correct reading ?
Oh well,, if I Had a perfect Little Spider then I wouldn't have anything to bitch about now would I ? LOL papa
Remember Andy Rooney ?
Re: Remember Andy Rooney ?
the door lugs are there to tell you when you've suffered the DREADED DOOR HINGE MOUNT TEAR.
the speedometer and tachometer reading in excess of actual are purposefully built that way to enforce safe (slower) driving speeds. THINK ABOUT IT.
Catalytic converters are required to create jobs for catalytic converter makers. boosts the economy. GOOD FOR EVERYONE.
so, armed with the correct answers to all your inquiries....... is there something else i can do for you, or andy?

door lugs support the door when it's closed, reducing wear on the latch assy and hinges
catalytic converters are a federal requirement. The feds decided it's easier to force the consumer to pay for emission reductions rather than fine large corporate polluters.
Tachs should be accurate, but they are electrical and voltage drops affect them just like every other electrical device. Speedos are affected by tire diameter, and generally do read a bit higher than the car is actually traveling
