I bought a 1985 Azzurra. The previous owner removed the fuel injection system and put in a carburetor. (no idea what type of carb this is, just know it is a weber) I have replaced the following:
Ignition coil and controller
Ignition cables
Spark plugs
The car will run while using starter fluid. (I loaded up the fuel bowl and it runs great.) However, without the starter fluid the starter motor just spins and the engine cranks, there is no sign of combustion at all. I have 8 gallons of fuel in the tank. One note - The fuel pump is extremely loud when I turn on the ignition. Before I order a new fuel pump and filter I was wondering if there are adjustments on the carb I could play with first.
Can anyone recommend a troubleshooting path?
Updated: I have removed the main nut on the carb where the fuel lines connect. There was some fuel that came out along with what appears to be a screen filter. I then closed it back up and turned on the ignition. I loosened that main nut and fuel started to pour out very quickly. I believe I have fuel pressure and I believe the line is clear just not sure why fuel is not making it into the carb. I am stumped.
