Muffler issues

Post by Baz »

I need a new centre muffler for my 1977-78 Spider. I can get one on US ebay sites but they come with a long pipe which makes shipping expensive. I have been unable to source a replacement here and general stuff is too wide or too deep. Does anyone know if that muffler is baffled ? If there is one avalable I would be happy to pay up front if someone could get a muffler and just leave 6 inches of pipe either end. I only need the muffler itself. Vick Auto have the complete pipe with both mufflers and I would have to pay enough to buy a small farm to freight it here. Anyway..I thought I would just put it out there to see what falls out of the tree.
Happy motoring for 2019 boys..

I had mine replaced at a small muffler shop for $60 plus tax.

The center muffler is not baffled, it is a straight through resonator. You should be able to replace it with a universal part pretty easily. The rear muffler is also just a straight through glass pack with no baffle.
