I have a lovely new diaphragm from AR (part #FU2-480), but only just THAT. No hardware at all,...
It seems that my old diaphragm is held in place by small hardware that I believe is riveted. Does anyone know how to remove the old diaphragm and install the new one, using the existing hardware?

Look around page 7 of my write-up and you'll see four screws holding the top on. If your's are indeed rivets that ain't kosher unless this was a PO change or a later factory change.

You misunderstand,...sorry.
I've got the unit opened just fine (screws), and my old diaphragm/shaft disassembled properly.
What you see in the photo is the new diaphragm from AutoRicambi on the left, and my old diaphragm on the right,...Yes, I KNOW it does not look like it need to be replaced! I purchase all rebuild parts before I begin a rebuild.
Since I do not know how to disassemble my unit further, and my old diaphragm is in very good shape, I think I'll return AR's diaphragm (like you said, expensive!).
If I HAD to, I think I'd drill out the rivet, tap the brass shaft, and thread in a small pan head screw to hold it all together again,....

That's how FU2-480 is sold,...so SOMEBODY has reused the hardware somehow.
If anyone knows where I can get a replacement diaphragm that INCLUDES the brass shaft (and the flat items that hold the diaphragm) please let me know. I'd like to have a source.
But what you see on the right is as disassembled as possible, and a replacement would have to look like that. A bare rubber cannot be used without a lot of work.

The one I received from Midwest had the shaft already attached but it looks like it's no longer available from them.

I simply washed the old one nicely, dryed it, and reinstalled it. It is in very good condition, so I'll not mess with things!
I'll make a note in my Shop Manual that I'll need to drill, tap, and replace the tiny rivet with a screw when I have to replace this rubber diaphragm,...

Couldn't find an appropriate size/thickness of O ring for the idle cutoff solenoid in my replacement kit, but I found a beauty in my O ring stash!
Done with the upper carb,...disassembling lower right now.
BTW, I was never able to remove the main jet. It appears to consist of a ball bearing trapped in a brass housing. The ball has a
light spring behind it, so I just tested it's motion after cleaning/drying, and left it.
Man I sure LOVE/HATE carb cleaner!

It's pretty obvious why the metal hardware cannot be easily re-used,...
