Recently I saw a post either on this forum or mirafiori where someone was repairing their rear quarter window frames that had rusted out by cutting out and replacing just the rusted out portion of the frames. Now I can't seem to find the post. Does anyone know the post I'm talking about? I've searched for "channel", "quarter window", "glass", etc.
I wanted to see where they sourced the channel from as I have a similar need and would rather replace just what I need rather than replace the entirety of the frames...

Yes! Thank you, so much! I don't think I've ever seen small channel at our area HDs. Did you find it in a different department that where they stock the short sticks of metal stock?

Yes its with all the aluminum and steel Sheetmetal plates etc. I think I found it on my 5th homedepot
Some keep a good stock some do not! Try Lowes also.

Home Depot no longer lists the small steel U-Channel on their website only aluminum which is not going to weld to the original window frame components.

Hi Tdecker
Sorry I did this along time ago! So I went digging into my photos to see if I could find a photo of the metal used. turns out it was 1/2 inch Square tubing! I just cut one side of it off and filed the metal to the original size. I do a lot of projects . So I am sorry if I caused you some time looking for the wrong product.
You can get this from home depot or Lowes. I checked and they both have it.

I was beginning to wonder if that was the case. Thanks for confirming.DRUMMOND wrote:Hi Tdecker

That makes so much more sense! Happily I've got 1/2" tubing lying around my studio.
Thanks for doing a little more digging. Very, very, much appreciated!!!
