Hardtop??

Post by majicwrench »

Tis a hardtop for sale in a nearby town, a couple questions.....do they go on and off easily?? My car is a 72, the hordtop is off a 78, will it fit?? I assume you remove the rag top ( literally a "rag top" in my case) to put on the hard top??
Thanks,
Keith

all I've seen leave the softtop in place. There are several different hard top makers, and they seem to vary alot in how they attach and look

I only use the hardtop in the winter when I'm not planning to do any top down driving for a while. They're cumbersome and heavy to remove on a whim. The one I have doesn't just snap into place like the soft top either. It uses the windshield latches and the back boot hooks so the soft top is folded down with it on.

Mine does not use the boot hooks unfortunately, it has a place for what looks like bolts and hooks just behind the doors but I don't know where to buy those. I only got the hard top so that when I get the AC installed the car may actually get cool during our winter

Gunsmith, werent those bolts on the top when it was delivered?I am sure that I sent them. They are plain threaded hook shaped bolts w/ a large washer and nut. They definitely are a Home Depot item ,and I am sure they werent the supplied ones(stock).Let me know ,and I will look around the garage. Sorry!

Gunsmith, can you post a picture of the hardtop? Let me know how your AC install goes. :-)

Craig, sounds similar to the hardware that came with my hardtop.

No there were not any bolts with it. Could your brother in law still have them? I was thinking of trying to find some at Home Depot as well but have just been too busy.
