80 FI Spider Swap to auto trans
Due to medical issues, I’m exploring swapping to an auto trans in my 80 FI Spider. What is entailed? How difficult would this be? Is it worth the effort? Thanks

You should change the transmission, driveshaft, reared , the shift linkage with tunnel cover, add the shift down cable to the throttle, change the right rear cam cover to hold vacuum line for the modulelater valve, change the radiator to one with cooling for the automatic, and add cooling lines. I have these items that I removed from a non running parts car. I don't know what condition they are in. The change over is not a small job. I would be willing to sell the above or you could save yourself some work and buy my 81 automatic Spider.

greenspider,
I have the reverse situation. I have a 80 FI automatic that I desperately want to convert to manual. I just haven't located all of the parts, nor have the time. I also do not have space to keep a donor car, though that would probably be the cheapest way to go. Where are you located? Perhaps we can figure out a way to swap out parts.
