Convertible Top Cable Gauge?

So, I have the ability to make my own tension cables for the new top I need to put on. The old top (or rather what is left of the top) is missing the cables. I've been able to find on the forums a length that the cables should be (at least for starters), but I haven't found anything about the diameter or gauge of the cables. Should I make them out of 1/8", 1/16", or some other size?

My memory from doing my top 10 years ago is that it is about 1/16th of an inch.
