My '82 Spider 2000 FI has a 138AR2000 engine fitted it has obviously been in there for many years (the car was imported from California to the UK about 12 years ago fitted with it) and everything looks quite original. My question is: Can anyone shed any light on which Fiat the engine may have come from? I know this engine was used in the Strada/Ritmo 130TC but those were famously with carbs and mine has the (possibly original) Bosch FI system. I think fitting the original system onto a newer engine, that is normally aspirated, would be far from simple. So was this engine used In another model (something like an Argenta?) already fitted with FI? The FI looks to be the same as photos of Spider 2000 engine bays. I am having difficulty locting things like cambelt tensioner, etc as it is different to the correct Spider 2000 one, so an idea of the donor model might help.
I will try to get my head around how to add photos and post!
Any ideas gratefully received!

Re: 138AR2000 engine identification
I have now managed to source a cambelt and tensioner bearing for this engine but these were very different to a Spider engine. I would be interested to know which other Fiats used this engine. One vendor suggested a Brava but I can't find anywhere that would prove one way or another.
The engine is now running beautifully and pulling like a train (I would even go as far as suggesting better than a previous Spider I had driven) so I am disinclined to swop it out. I would just like to know what parts it takes. Does anyone know of a site that could help identify which cars this 138AR2000 engine went in?

Sounds like a motor from a Fiat Ritmo Abarth TC - 138 AR 2000 engine. Do you have any pictures?
