Dash wood replacements

Post by JustRand »

Does anyone know where I can get replacement wood panels for my 1969? It has 5 holes not 6.

Is the size etc the same as the later, early 80s, dash?

My dash was obviously replaced my a home depot officianado and it fits poorly and looks worse. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Rand

I think Allison Automotive has replacement dash panels, and I suspect Vick Auto and Autoricambi do too. Spider Point and Mr FIAT definitely do. If you’re interested in replacing with stock Midwest Bayless probably has a few options.

It wouldn’t hurt to post in the Want To Buy/Parts Wanted section as well.

Post some pictures of what you’ve currently got... some panels have a notch over the steering wheel which others do not.

Thanks, I'll check with them again. Most only had the 5-hole for 78s and later.

Here is the state of my dash currently. It's sad.

I'm still looking...

Maybe work on getting what you have to fit correctly and then veneer over it with something you like the look of better.

Mark at Allison Automotive can help you out. He works with a cabinet maker and can do custom configurations.

Another alternative is to pick up some veneer at woodcraft.com or similar and refinish your existing pieces, if they're in decent enough shape. I'm playing around with the veneers right now, and I'll post my work-in-progress shortly.

You may want to repair the dash itself first.

Thanks, I'll look into Allison Automotive for sure.

The Dash will be getting replaced as well, but replacement for that seem fairly available without too much trouble.

Thanks for all the input, it really does help.
