Anyone have K&N lifetime air filter?
Hey friends. Finally checked air filter after my third summer of ownership. Bought a pricey new K&N cloth model. Have yet to install, but does anyone run one of these? Notice any improvements? Side note--I put less than 1000 miles on each short upstate summer and the '82 is as stock as it can be. Had one 100-mile trip a month ago and the car loved that. Has run so much better since. Love this forum but "potential" problems worry me. Not a great mechanic here. Best advice so far has been "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Thanks folks.

Re: Anyone have K&N lifetime air filter?
I have a "K&N-like" washable filter on my 72, came with the square air filter housing I purchased from A/R a couple of years ago. It's worked fine, and with the performance exhaust system, the engine does seem to breathe a little easier.
Ran an actual K&N on my old Dakota pickup for a few years; no issues then. Upgraded the current Eco-diesel and spouse's Jeep GC to K&N's this past spring; both "feel" a little freer. Pricey, yeah, but over a long haul, at least break even on replacements, IMO.

Thanks Neil,
The performance exhaust is one of my future plans. The one modification I'm looking forward to.

Re: Anyone have K&N lifetime air filter?
Finally got the new filter installed. Those darn cover springs are a pain. New filter had fresher rubber, naturally, but the real pain is the end of the lower box is a little too close to a bolt head and bracket for the fan shroud. So the top doesn't fit just right. Finally had to pull the last spring up with a wire and then use channel locks to pry it even higher. Finally latched. Why did they make these so tight? Anyway, it worked.
