Hi all, PO installed a CD player that is too long for the center console DIN slot, so it sits crooked. This appears to be a common problem. Since I don't actually listen to music while in the 124, I'm thinking about yanking the CD player and installing one of these:

or perhaps:

Before I make the hefty $14 investment, it would be good to know how much room I have to work with. If anyone has dimensions (depth), please share. There are plenty of threads regarding stereo installation, but I didn't see anything that included dimensions.
Admittedly, both of these options a little bit cheesy, but hitting starbucks on the way to the curvies would be kind of nice now and then. If you're privy to better uses for that radio DIN slot, let's hear 'em!
Thanks,
Tim

Re: Dimensions (depth) for stereo DIN
I have a radio that is 6 inches deep installed (well it's not installed right now - but that's another story).
There are a lot of wires behind it, so it is definitely fiddly getting the center console back in with the stereo installed, but it can be done. It might be easier without a stereo and the biggest bundle to fiddle with are the stereo wires.

Re: Dimensions (depth) for stereo DIN
I just replaced the stereo in mine. there is a support in the back of the area behind the console that holds the weight of the stereo. Since it is a slide in that then clicks into the mounting bezel; you can wire everything up, put the console back in, then simply plug the harness into the back of the radio and slide it into place. A little man handling of the wires back there so it fits. without the support in the back, the weight of the stereo would seem to tilt the console since there is not much holding those in.
so far, so good
regardless; it is tight up at the top. as long as the CDs go in/out.
If you don't listen to CDs, you can get the shallow units; should fit easily and less weight.
