Carburetor issue
New '79 2000 owner and experiencing a stalling issue at every stop sign, it just won't idle. From what I've read, this year has the worst carb and intake. Also read that the 1800 cc intake is a nice replacement. What carb would be the easiest, best fit to replace the original. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

Re: Carburetor issue
I'm not sure about the 79, but my 78 had an electronic idle control valve. It went bad and it would stall if I took my foot off the gas.

Re: Carburetor issue
Hi and welcome
My 79 has a single plane now and a 32adf
carb . The p.o. Did it and I think a 34 adf would have been a bit more powerful .But if that is the issue get a kia.... So if I were starting where you are i would get the 34'ad'adf

Re: Carburetor issue
When working properly the 79 carb etc is ok-ish.
I swapped mine out for an 1800 intake and Weber 34ADF. once jetted/tuned properly, goes GREAT. I have stock air filter and 4-2-1 exhaust

Re: Carburetor issue
Agreed on the carb and manifold replacement.
The 28/32 on the '79 is long known to be the dog of all webers on these cars.
I had a new out the box one from the PO, used it to get smogged here in Cali.
PO also gave me the 1800 single plane manifold and a 32/36.
since I had to do a lot of engine work; swapped them out. get them dialed in and they are great.
the 34's and 38's that some have done will give you a bit more since primaries are bigger and sinc'd vs progressive. but the 32/36 is pretty easy to manage: as with all of these: float adjustment and jetting.
this gives you a good idea of the difference between the manifolds; crazy.
AR has a kit for all of this as well as options for each piece. check e bay for the carbs: a bunch out there

Re: Carburetor issue
Beware the Chinese copies that are sold. I know the price is tempting and some have good luck with them but I'd first look around for the genuine Weber.
