Exhaust Running Red Hot (Like Race Car Rotors at night)

Took my car for a short two mile drive to troubleshoot an issue I have with running rough (see other post from me today). Any got home and noticed smoke coming out from under the car. Looked under and saw the muffler was glowing red. Killed the power immediately to cool it off. The engine temperature was still below 190.

Any ideas on what would be causing this?

Three ideas:
(1) Leaking exhaust valve(s)
(2) Timing is off
(3) Improper fuel/air mixture

Thanks. Not sure how to test leaky exhaust valves or the fuel/air mixture but if you do let me know!

I did check the timing and I am looking good at 10 degrees BTDC.

If you still have the catalytic converter check it.

Thanks that was the part that was red hot. I removed it and it looked clogged as hell!

Now you need to find what is causing an overly rich exhaust. All of the above suggestions are good.
