Fuel line check valve??

Post by njspider »

1982 spider. This car always started quickly, even if it sat for a period of time. Now if it hasn't run for a few weeks, it cranks for a long time before it fires. Once it starts, it idles smoothly and runs great. Is there a check valve or some other means to keep the fuel from running back to the tank? Could my fuel pump be getting weak and cause this? thanks

The usual initial suspects for that problem on EFI systems are the Thermo-Time Switch and/or the Cold Start Injector. And I'm assuming ethanol-containing gasoline - how old is it?

Update: Now that the weather is colder, the car fires right up. Went out today and it started quickly and it hadn't been run for a month. This summer and early fall it would crank for a long time before it started. Once the engine is warm, it starts quickly no matter what the outside temp. WTF??? Thermo-time switch??
