Anyone here using the Short Shifter from Auto Ricambi ? l Think I would really like the short throw, however im a little concerned about the set screws on the side of part TR 5-690.
Have these come loose, rattle or make any noise ? Looks like a easy install, but any input would be helpful.
Thanks

Re: Short Shifter from AR TR 5-690
I put one on my car right after I got it about three years ago. It fits on the original shaft very tightly, so you definitely don't have to worry about it coming off. I tired removing it once when I was taking my trans out and I couldn't get it to budge. It drops the shift knob down about 3 inches. I think it was a very worthwhile addition

ebrown0104 Thanks. Needed to confirm with someone who had one. I have had problems with those allen wrench set screws in the past. Someone mentioned to use a Loctite blue to prevent those from vibrating of shift knob. I will order and post results.

I've had no problems with my short shifter, installed during a rebuild.

I also installed one - no problems. The real reason I installed it was the original is such a pain to get on and off - but is very easy.

My son's 77 had one...worked perfectly and never loosened up.

I'm more surprised that everyone here doesn't have a short shifter. Easy upgrade and it doesn't feel like you're driving a truck anymore.

Re: Short Shifter from AR TR 5-690
I love mine, but I got it direct from the manufacture seems like about 10 years ago. At that time it was called the "Michigan Shorter Shifter" , so I'm not sure it's identical to the AR version.
Besides a shorter throw, my original shaft rotated all the time and it just sort of drove me crazy (funny how certain things just nag a person). This has allen screws and it stays put and it let me set the orientation of my shifter and keep it set properly at all times. I like it and don't even remember what it felt like to drive the "truck" version of my car.
