Colorado/Wyoming members?
This is truly Fiat Spider Related,...
I was hoping to entice members of the forum, from Colorado, Wyoming, and adjacent states, to post here and provide your general location.
I find it kind of annoying that we all 'KEEP' Spiders, but we don't know our owner/neighbors. I'd organize a car show,...
Denver has Automezzi, but I would not be comfortable showing off my poor little Spider with all those magnificent machines. I would guess there are others that feel the same way, but would like to show what they have been able to accomplish.
Anyway, I'll start this.
I am just north of Ault, Co. It is a small town, about 20 miles east of the mountains and Fort Collins. Greeley, CO is only about 15 miles south of us. We bought our home here in 1985. I am always available via Private Messaging on this forum.
I know of a couple of 'local' members,...81SPIDERMATT and focodave live in Ft. Collins, and Wyomingspider is a fairly local member that I know of. That's about it for northern Coloardo/southern Wyoming, as far as I know.
Would anyone else like to post here? This thread will keep track of forum members,...
Thanks! And Happy Thanksgiving!
Todd Compton.

Wow,...cool! Tell us more,...glad you're here. Northern Colorado members are a little scarce,...
I grew up in "FOCO",...gradumacated from Poudre and CSU!
The bunch of us are going to need to have a meet in 'Collins, someday soon. My Spider is off the road temporarily, as you may have seen here on the forum, so it might be a little while before I can do that (and cruise Horsetooth with focodave, like I promised). But not too long!
Good to hear from you, Gnocco!
Todd.

When I say I’m working on my 78, I mean I’m working ON my 78...ie., where am I NOT working on it?
Seriuosly though, it is a project that I’ve had for years. Finally starting “the process.” Gave it a good once over and found a little bit of rust and no signs of previous body work.
Doing timing belt and seals, water pump / cooling system, and fuel system. Anybody want my old tank??
Nice to meet you all!

Re: Colorado/Wyoming members?
I'm no more fortunate. I've had mine for 18 years, rebuilt the engine/camshafts, new front and rear suspension/shocks, canvas top, etc,...and now it's FIX IT AGAIN TODD after being hit, front and rear (see "Squashed,...nearly fixed"). But I'm persevering, and nearing completion to primer.
It's an automatic (whoever heard of an automatic in a sports car?!), a Chevy TH180. Goes pretty well if you shift it,...
I've scoped out new upholstery, priced a new windshield, and have my sights on a 'soft touch' urethane dashpad. Probably in the next year, or so,...and that would finish the interior. I could paint in the fall, or next year.
That's where mine stands,...nothing happening fast. At least this one is truly rust free!
When I bought this car, there was very little available for it,...and not much internet. Today, several vendors are available for Fiat parts.
Best of luck with your's! I really only KNOW the '79 Spider 2000, but I do know it well (and have shop manual + electrical diag), and the '78 is quite similar. Please let me know (PM me here, or wetminkey@hotmail.com) if I can be of ANY help!

Re: Colorado/Wyoming members?
So Todd -- here are the local Spiders I know of so far:
Your car -- '79
My car -- '80
81SPIDERMATT -- '81
Gnocco -- '78
There is a guy with a '79 I have seen at a few of the local car shows -- don't know his name -- but his is cream colored -- he also brings a '56 Chevy 4-door to the local shows
There is another guy -- Nick or Gary or Greg Ferraro (??) -- I met at a local cars & coffee in Fort Collins -- his is a white '81 with red interior
Including Wyomingspider, that makes at least 7 cars that are "local".

I'm in Co Springs. My current driver is a 80 carb, projects include a 80 FI, 81, 82, and a 73. I would like to get together with other spider drivers, not sure if I would drive through Denver in a spider, but anything is possible.

Re: Colorado/Wyoming members?
Wow! Howdy, Walt! You ARE an enthusiast! Glad you posted. We'll have to keep in touch, even if we can't meet up with our Spiders. My wife is from Security/Widefield area, back in the pre '80's,...
This is cool,...I started this thread a long time ago, and here's a good number of local folks answering up. Thought I was in a 'Fiat desert' here, in the west/mid-west, of Colorado. Not so!
Todd.

Re: Colorado/Wyoming members?
My enthusiasm hasn't dimmed any but reality has set in. The place i was storing my cars/parts is no more so I need to thin the collection. If any of the locals on the board are interested I'd rather sell to them before I have to put them on CL. Send a PM if interested. I have panels/parts from a 71, 74, a running 80 FI, and a running driving 81. I'm keeping a couple of cars to play with to keep the addiction alive.

Re: Colorado/Wyoming members?
Bill here in Parker, CO. I own 2 Spiders - A ’74 124 Spider Abarth Stradale replica, and a ’69 Spider Racer with a Volumex 2L 8Valve engine, and extensive modifications. Both cars were documented on macautosport.com, but that website is now gone. I am looking to start up another site or picture posting account soon to share pictures.
I recently took the ’74 Spider on a 2800 mile trip which included 940 miles of Route 66. The car ran flawlessly.
I build the TC engines, and do my own modifications to my FIATs. The Volumex build was documented about 8 years ago on Guy Croft’s Forum.
I am looking forward to any/many discussions about any topic on this forum. I will be at the Denver Automezzi with the '74 Spider.

Re: Colorado/Wyoming members?
Only a year late in finding this post, but who is counting - Live in Highlands Ranch (S Denver Metro), have an 83 spider (need to get it back from my sister in Texas), an 80 FI slate gray good looking driver, and another 80 FI red / tan that I am in the process of restoring. No rust, good body, but no maintenance in 25+ years. Would love to meet with other Fiat owners....

Cool!
Still nothing from Wyo owners so far, and I seem to have lost track of 81SPIDERMATT,...
Not many Spider owners in northern Colorado and Wyoming,...
Todd.
