Does anyone know how the delay switch which lights up the seat belt and brake lights on the center dash of my 1981 spider is related to the car starting? For years now when I turned the key to accessory position all three lights would come on. Then, when I crank the starter they all go off, but after holding the key over for a couple seconds the seat belt and brake would come back on. Only then, when they came back on, the car would start and they would turn back off after a couple seconds.
I just did some work on my starter switch (cleaning the contacts) and put it back in. Now, when I turn it to accessory, all 3 lights come on, and turn off when I crank it. But now the seat belt and brake lights don’t come back on as they did before, and the car cranks, but will not start.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: Delay Switch
Did you disassemble and clean all the contacts in the ignition switch??? Your problem could be related to your ignition switch. Is it an original Sipea assembly???
