How early is your spider?

Post by dinghyguy »

So while looking around I found a list showing vin numbers by year .
After doing some math I figured out my 79 was the 57th car of that year
Does anyone have a number lower than 57 for their year?

What number is your car that year?

Oh the list was on mirafiori

I always wondered about my 77 spider as it production date on the tag says July 76. According to that list it was #643 of production year 77. Somewhat early as they made around 12000 spiders for 77. I once owned a 70 spider that was the 4th or 5th from last for that year. The 70 Has since been scraped due to terminal rust issues.

The last 6 of vin. Here's a link to the list.

That is interesting. I have a spider that shows it meets the requirements of 1970, made in 4-1970 and licensed as a 1970, has a 1438 engine but has a 27000 number which seems to make it a 1971.

Thanks for that link. Mine is 14,001 of model year 1974. Not exactly a low number.

On a similar but different note, my 77, which has late model (78) relay setup, says build date was January 77 on vin plate in driver door jam. Also, there is the number 26 written in factory seam sealer below the rear seat bench on pass side. Anyone else have that?

So looking at the Mira chart, mine (0007843) is in the middle of 1968.
#2,224 of 4,935 in 68.
Considering there were 198,120 Spiders sold globally, makes me feel good knowing my "elder" is still being driven.

Dan, I would guess your Angelina is one of the earliest spiders still on the road. I watched your video on YouTube and she is a real gem. Absolutely beautiful car!

Hi,
the model identification list at mirafiori.com says:
Chassis Type Beginning Serial No.
124CS2 0142649

At our Spider registry we got earlier numbers for the CS2 type:
124CS20142519 (built date 08/78)
124CS20142525
124CS20142542 (built date 08/78)
124CS20142561
124CS2014258x
124CS20142596
124CS20142613
124CS20142636

So the FIAT reality is not the same as the public FIAT listings.

b.t.w.: Engine numbers at NOT matching with the VIN or chassisnumbers (because of built Spares or FIAT correctness etc..)

Hope this helps.

Bye,
Ralf

Using data from Spider registry.de that would make yours #73.

I would sell it Dinghyguy!
