Progress on Red to Biege conversion...

Tried the test on the various pieces, but noticed that the epoxy sample was very bad, did not have a glossy smooth finish (I thinned the epoxy where it poured like water over the surface to minimize any high points), the varnished sample (satin gloss) was the best, the polyurethane (sprayed) had a rough speckled surface, I basically had to sand it down and apply varnish which quickly fixed the appearance.

I will go with the satin varnish (sprayed) finish as it highlights the grain without the heavy gloss look to it.

I have also installed the wood on the armrests, looks great. If anyone wants to look at the pic, I'll post it when I get home this weekend.

it looks great, I like the Fiat emblem in the head rests. It sure is a light beige though.

Outstanding job! Love those seats. They look extremely comfortable. Now, all you have to do is drive it to Winston-Salem in September (Concours de Graylyn) so I can check it out personally for the fellas. We've got a rally scheduled the day before the show through the Blue Ridge Mountains that promises to be fun.

Thanks all, it was a fun job and the only thing missing in the pics are the seat belts, installing them today and will post a pic.

Winston-Salem sounds doable if I can get my son to tag along since it's his car... gotta get me another Fiat to do the same conversion though and head up there, that should be alot of fun, meet some Fiat folks.

Shaun is a stand-up guy, and I know it's a drive for you, but to visit the GarageMahal and Shaun's company would make the trip worth it.

Serious the Winston-Salem gig sounds great... I'll post my email when I'm ready with the mods on my next spider, bring both spiders for a nice trip up the mountains.

I haven't been on the boards lately, I've moved since then to a new house to accommodate the Fiat cars in their own garage and been traveling on the job... hope to be back on the boards more frequently and show the progress on the red spider... got the leather seats in it, but can't find the time to do the doors and the rest of the car.

Nice interior. I missed this thread the first time it came up. My favorite detail you did is one I certainly would do. Eliminate the ash tray! Cleans up the look a ton.
