How to remove vent window and door top trim?

Post by Justice777 »

Not having much luck finding info on this.
On my restoration project ('78) the last items I have to remove are the vent window frames and trim atop the doors. Does entire window regulator need to come out?

Any direction is very much appreciated.

Bump. Really? No one here has taken top trim off a door before?

I've removed the top door trim on both of my doors, but I have never removed the vent window frames.
To remove the top door trim, you simply pry it off, starting at the back of the door. You will need to protect your paint when prying with a screwdriver. I laid some heavy cloth on the door and gently caught the edge of the trim with a large screwdriver and proceeded to pry the trim up and off.
The only problem is that the trim tends to occasionally want to "walk up" (on its own after having re-installed it), after several drives and opening and closing of the doors.
Not a huge deal --- just a nuisance item when I have to push the trim back down once in a while, to get it back in its proper place. It only walks up about 3/16" on the front side of the door and is easily pushed back down in place.
If someone knows a cure for that, I'd love to hear how you fixed it.

Thank you - I got it all apart. Was worried I would have to remove window mechanics and very happy I did not have to.
