I posted on Mira but I go to both for my friends.
I finally pulled the trigger for something I've always wanted to do.
I thought I would travel light but just now I think I will take the Spider, the old 500 and maybe even the tractor.
The house is half built to earthquake standards with garage space on the bottom. The top is totally flat concrete. It is 4000 sq/ft and a friend will build 2000 for himself and I will do the same on the other side.
I can still use the VA for health and meds but will also buy healthcare there for only about $600/yr which I understand is excellent.
It's all about food, friends and enjoying life.
I was looking at selling the vehicles here but [expletive] I will keep them, I may even bring the boat! I'm not on water but close enough. I will miss my own dock.
It will happen in about 2 years.

Re: Moving to Italy
I would steer clear of the areas with lava abatement walls and known for high seismic activity. No much fun when a building with 2 foot thick walls is doing its best imitation of the Tarantella. My Father-In-Law (a former Carabineri Officer) was telling everyone to stand still since their movement was making it hard to frame the picture he was trying to take when he finally realized it was the house east of Naples that was moving. Bay of Naples is a sunken volcanic crater (caldera) which they have been trying to drill a relief vent into for some time now since the center of it appears to have been rising up.
Here is a link to one of the older articles in Newsweek where they ask if the drilling would present a greater danger than just leaving well enough along. That the landscape in that area is known to shift up and down about a dozen feet every now and then does make life interesting for the locals.

Re: Moving to Italy
I will be moving just south of Salerno in a somewhat rural setting.
The warnings are useful so I may not bring my stuff but is's hard to let it all go.
The boat is the first one crossed off the list. Too big for a container and I doubt I would use it much AND I would have to get a license to drive it. Florida is a free for all because stupidly they allow anyone to drive a boat including children without any training.
I may not bring the cars either if it is more trouble than it is worth. I had been planning on shipping the Spider to Europe to sell it because it is hard to find a good one there and they command a much better price.
Hurricanes have been fun to prepare for but there is plenty of time to do what is needed. Time to try earthquakes.
