Not really, I don't think he has ever sold one of these.

Just hype and hope.

I like the Corsa Evoluzione! Did all those start out as clapped out, rusty old barn finds?

No they usually will not restore a rusted out car where the structural members have lost too much steel. Most are on racks in their conditioned warehouse which you can choose from to build your car on or you can send in your own car for them to use. If your car is too far gone though they won't restore it and will credit you for any good reusable parts and build one up from a better car shell from their warehouse. If you check out their web site step one is to select the shell you want to use from their warehouse if you are not sending in a car for them to use.

I just happened to be at the Hagerty web site and there was a notification that my car had increased in value! According to the chart, a "good" condition 1977 Fiat Spider value went from around $7500 in January 2016 to $11,300 in January 2017. Has to be because of the new Spider.

Not sure I would put to much stock in the Hagerty values, after all they want to sell value based insurance.
Look at what they actually sell for as a better guide. The cars are probably worth more than they were in the past, just not sure you'd get 11K for one.

Although I may be the last one to comment on this. I've never tried to sell mine.

Right you are. I'd take 11K for mine in a heartbeat - not going to happen.

At least those high book values encourage the Insurance companies to fix them rather than total them in the case of accidents.

and i hope what you say is true; friday before last, my daughter and i were rear-ended in my 1980. the trunk lid somehow came out ok, but the rest of the rear was crushed pretty badly. it is a solid as hell daily driver, and i really want to get it fixed.

Good luck, this will be a good test, so keep us informed of how the insurance company behaves? We have just gone through our own Insurance company disaster with my daughter's car in CO; had a minor one car slide off the road accident, no big deal, less than 2K to fix it. But.... Insurance company took almost 6 WEEKS to approve the claim and get the work started. Both the agent and the central offices made multiple excuses, errors, delays, all done on purpose, to what end I know not, but clearly it was done on purpose. I was close to filing complaints with the CO AG Office. Really, really bad.

my girlfriend called me at work, after the adjuster stopped by to check out the spider. all i can say is...whoa. he told her that its value is in the 7-8k range, which kind of blew my mind. this, from an insurance adjuster. he is leaning toward repair, and not totaling, which makes me very happy what with all the time, money, and blood i have put into that little machine. one other pertinent fact: he was excited to check out my spider, and told her that he has owned a 1978, as well as an 850 spider. :)

also, very glad i got buckets and four-point harnesses. i'd hate to think of the state of our necks, with the stock seats.

oh, and as far as the timing, sorry about your daughter's car taking so long. but this guy said i should plan on the process taking about three weeks. personally, i am ok with that, as i was only driving my spider because we had a one week stretch of sunny days in the forecast (i am in seattle), so i took the opportunity to do some work on my M3, which is disassembled in the garage. so, when they asked if i needed a rental, i jumped on it. and that was a saga of its own.

i first was given a pathetic nissan versa. such a hateful machine. well, it absolutely reeked of nail polish remover. headaches and nausea. i took it back in, and they gave me a jeep patriot. also a horrible turd. that thing was so big, and had absolutely the worst torque steer i have ever experienced. plus, though enterprise has a no-smoking policy, this texas-plated vehicle stank like an ashtray. third trip in, and the very nice and apologetic manager gave me a new nissan altima. i am very pleasantly surprised. a very solid, comfortable, and quick car.

yeah, i could stand to drive that for a few weeks, and take my time on the M3. :)

You've got to figure if it hasn't rusted out the steel on our cars is about three times a thick as the stuff on current beer can mobiles. So at least we have higher scrap values to look forward to.
