Seatbeltplanet *picture request*

Hi All

Does anyone have the retractable seat belts for an early spider, a BS1 would be great, that seatbeltplanet sell?
If so could you reply with a photo of the retractor bit with the roof down.

I'm trying to fit some retractable belts myself but at the moment they catch on the window frame/roof when the top is put down. The retractable bit of my belts look very similar to the photo on seatbeltplanet so I'm guessing they use a special bracket.

Any help would be great.

I have a '76 and it didn't have the mounts for the retractor, so I had to drill and use the gigantic washer-like anchors. The advantage is that I could mount them without interfering with the top.

I take it the washer anchors are threaded and you drilled a through hole in the wheel arch?
How big in diameter are the anchors? is there much metal to metal contact inside the wheel arch?

I did think about doing this but I was put of with the wheel arch being a radius and a anchor plate being flat.

The washers are about 2 1/2 inches in diameter. They're not threaded, just big washers. The kit comes with 4 washers, bolts and lock nuts.

I used two washers for each retractor, just because I had them. The spot I drilled the hole was at a point on the wheel arch that doesn't have a lot of curvature and when I tightened the nut, there was pretty good contact
I'm not sure if the washer bent or the sheet metal or both.

I also primed around the hole before attaching the retractor.

Finally found a solution that doesn't mean i have to cut the rear panels.
Just one bracket that cost me less than your $2.
It just needs filing down on the corners and painting black.

No galvanised 5mm mild steel.
It's a unistrut bracket.

another option is to get a set of original brackets from a newer donor car and have them welded in behind the rear seat. you then to to replace the rear seat with a newer one that has the slots cut in it for the belts to pass through. did this on my 1975.
