Volumex cosmetics
Hello again all,
Long time away from fs.com. Hope all is well with all. Question:
Anyone have any experience dealing with this particular German supplier?
http://cgi.ebay.de/124-Fiat-Volumex-Spi ... otohosting
I am interested in dressing my 82 the Volumex style wheel arch covers and integrated front spoiler. My obvious concern is value of this product. With shipping this amounts to a $600 accessory. Any thoughts on this package or other possibly less expensive options?
Cheers
Joe

Re: Volumex cosmetics
Actually the colorful photo does not look that these parts are built to the original VX....
Check w/ Spider-Point - you can get their Abarth-Fender-Kit for a smaller price, it lists at 181€- look:
ciao,
Stefan

Thanks Stefan.
I hadn't even thought about Spiderpoint. That looks like a more reasonable and reputable option.

Joe

Re: Volumex cosmetics
I got my bumper blocks from those guys on e-bay, great quality. Their home page is http://cabriole.de/index.php?page=home
I was looking at that kit last year, but decided against it because of the price plus the cost of shipping. The fender flares and the front spoiler would look sweet with the bumper blocks. Bayless has some nice front ends as well if I recall.

Re: Volumex cosmetics
All their stuff at cabriolé.de looks really cool, especially the Volumex kit. I just don't know if I can justify the 349 Euro plus shipping and exchange. It's up there. In comparison, 181 Euro for the Spiderpoint Abarth lips isn't exactly cheap either. Have to weigh this one. But I can see this becoming another one of those purchases where careful value for dollar comparisons will get forfeited to sheer impulsiveness...

Sounds just like how I became a Fiat owner... anyone else? I still say it's the best impulse buy I've ever made!Joe Clemente wrote:But I can see this becoming another one of those purchases where careful value for dollar comparisons will get forfeited to sheer impulsiveness...
I just wish Cabrio had a better pic of it installed on a bumperless car, then I'd probably feel better about making the purchase.

Re: Volumex cosmetics
I impulsively bought my first one in 35 years on ebay last year and within two months I had another. I was talking about restoring my purchases to Robert Vick (http://www.vickauto.com/) and he said 'and so it begins'

Mark, In keeping with your analogy, my wife would say it is more like a 'menage a trois' with my two mistresses.
I tell her that it is just like buying a second puppy to keep the first one company.
I'll let you know how that line of reasoning works for me.

Re: Volumex cosmetics
joe, i guess it comes down to how bad you want something. ive spent money on stuff for my fiats that i cant really justify as getting good value. i sent my head to croft to have him work his magic on it. talk about pricy. but i would do it again.hell i just today spent 2/3rds of what your talking about to get parts for my x polished and ceramic coated. who would have figured, an x with some bling. wont make it run better, but it sure looks good. and im finally getting that hood finished that i started a couple years ago.

You're right Rey. I've also spent lots in past on seemingly frivolous stuff. Ultimately, my concern is less with the money as it is with the quality of the product and the integrity of the vendor. As I've never dealt with this guy before, I cannot know what to expect. Take my chances.
Thanks for the input Rey. Always valued.
Cheers!
