Car value!

Post by RMaxfield »

I just went to my insurance agent and discussed coverage. Hagerty values the car $6000 more than when it was new! Now if the rest of the world would that would be something. 1984 Pininfarina Azzurra in the shape that mine is in $23,500!

yeah, but 6K more today may be some amount less in equivalent dollars. Our cars have made it through a long & rather low depreciation parabola. Sadly, that also makes some worth owning even if you don't love the cars.

Right now muscle cars are the hot thing. I watched the Mecum auctions the other night and they had a nice MG TD go for $14,000. It cost a lot less than that when new but only brought a small amount. Problem today is the sports car market is really slow. The average kid today has no idea what one is. Muscle they can relate to. In a world where most new cars have no personalities, they all look alike, sports cars and muscle stick out. Problem is nothing to relate to for most sports cars especially the FIAT Spyder. Abarth and Alfa are trying to change things hope they do soon.
