Carb and Intake Swap

Post by Jfulie »

I have a 79 Spider and am getting ready to do the swap with the DFEV carb and 1800 intake manifold. What other parts will I need to do this?

if you're not changing the exhaust manifold you will have to figure out a way to block off the egr passage in the cylinder head.

About the EGR Port he is talking about, i simply made a small alluminum bracket with a hole to mount to its original mounting hole. Then RTV'ed around it. Other than that, the 1800 manifold was bolt on, and didn't require much effort. Also make sure you but the intake manifold gasket for the 1800 manifold and not the 2000. Good luck!

The egr valve is already off and the two holes are covered. The PO took off all of the emissions stuff. I tried uploading a picture, but haven't figured it out yet.

Here's the picture. The red piece is covering the openings.

Jfulie,

There will still be a port on the block you must cover when you put the 1800 manifold on. The 1800 manifold does not cover the egr port.

What is a part number for the 1800 intake gasket? I'm going to try and find it locally.

There's two brass connections on my DFEV carb. One is for the fuel. Does anyone know what the other one is for? It's located up and to the right of the fuel one. I can't get a picture to post.

So the electric choke doesn't appear to be working. It is stuck open and we are unable to wind the spring as it just spins inside the hpusing. Should the spring be fixed so that we can wind it?
