Koni shocks Yellow vs. Red
Is there any damping difference between the Koni red and the yellow shocks if the part number is the same (80-1877 and 80-1878)?

On the red only rebound is adjustable, not compression. On the yellow ones when one adjusts the stiffness, both the compression and the rebound stiffness changes.

Re: Koni shocks Yellow vs. Red
I was able to get a NOS set of Koni yellows for a great price last week and then found a NOS set of Koni reds also. I will be using stock springs and just trying to decide what set would be best for street use. When I look at the graph from tire rack it looks like the reds will give a softer ride.

Re: Koni shocks Yellow vs. Red
Replaced the KYB GR-2 shocks on my '79 spider with Koni "Reds". The Koni's were adjusted + 180° front and rear with stock springs.
Took the car out for a 1/2 hr. drive this afternoon. Now I know why spider owners love Koni shocks! With the KYB's installed the ride was good but you felt all the road imperfections, with the Koni's you see the road imperfections but you only feel the big ones. I never believed a shock could change the way a car rides so much.
