I'm posting this again because I think my original post was " lost " in an older thread.
My 1979 2000 has been completely desmogged by a previous owner . There is a grey thing mounted inacceibly above the fuel pump which I suppose is the crank case vent valve At present the discharge vents to the side of the engine . Should it be connected to the carb inlet ?? There is a much smaller hole[ 1/2 inch ] in the lunch box filter , between the filter and the carb throat which should be a sensible place for the crank case vent to connect to . ??
Is this OK ?
Why is the vent valve so big ??
Do I need a flame trap ??
Can I replace the whole lot with a simple N American PCV valve ?
All the schematics I have found are vague about what goes where

Re: 1979 Vent hose connections??
On the FI it goes up to just in front of the throttle plate, so I would expect that same sort of arrangement is made with the carb'ed version?

Re: 1979 Vent hose connections??
On my car (74) the crankcase vent is connected via a fairly large hose with a flame trap to the air filter. The stock air filter has a fitting that the hose slides over.

Thanks
I will connect to the air filter housing .
Downstream of the filter and upstream of the throttles seems a sensible place . It's certainly better than venting to atmosphere .
