So...after taking time to remove and clean carburetor this weekend (Weber DHSA2 28/36) I got down to the last piece of reassembly...reattaching the fuel inlet fitting. I had previously removed the old pressed fittings and tapped the holes to accept a threaded/barbed fitting. As I am tightening down the fuel inlet fitting I hear a small "tink" and sure enough a hairline crack appears directly on top of the fuel inlet on the carb cover body. Have I finally done in this carb? Has anyone successfully mended a crack of this nature. I am concerned with the crack being at the fuel inlet that any further failure could cause fuel to spray about the engine compartment and potentially cause a fire. Can a crack be mended or is a new carb in my future?...new carb cover body? Any advice would be appreciated as I am beating myself over the head for getting into this predicament in the first place.
Thanks
