Really enjoying this with all the photos and especially with your willingness to salvage and rebuild old parts rather than just replace with new. Very admirable and something the world needs more of.

I really like this color. What is it? What brand of painting products did you use?

Thanks, Rick

Good move by thinking ahead and re-inforcing the frame rail. That's a known weak spot for cracks to develop. Is that something you repaired or was it gifted to you that way?
I could not help but notice that the drivers side may have taken a hit at one point. The area above the shock tower indicates a bit of imperfection. It may or may not affect some tire wear.

Hi Arik

The only thing gifted to me was the rust and a few front dents! The car had a minor fender bender on the top half of the drivers side. Crushed the front top of the fender by the hood and headlight nacelle. it had previously been poorly repaired. I noticed it before I rescued the car from going to the scrapyard. The bottom half seemed to be ok as measured briefly center axle to center axle fore and aft, of course this will be different when put back together as all the ball joints and rubbers in the suspension was shot. Both lower frame rails were intact with no damage other than the cracks and rust penetration by the cross member, This I repaired and reinforced the same way they did the rally cars. this locates the cross member securely even if the bolts loosen slightly, (Which I believe is how the frame rails get stress cracks from) You will be able to hear the click clack as the brakes are put on and off. All this is in photographs posted past.

Jim

I take the photos with a Iphone 6, sometimes they right color comes out sometimes it looks grey. I just put it down to the fact that some photos are taken in the day and some at night with the florescent lights in the garage
