Engine Mount Oil Leak Driver Side

Post by Stevo »

Hi. Does anyone know if the studs on the engine mounts to the block have access to the engines oil by chance? I completely cleaned with brake cleaner the block, oil pan. I did tighten loose engine pan bolts. I drove it about 10 miles and no leaks except for the area near the engine mount. It is a 1980 fuel injected engine. I am tempted to remove one of the bolts and then see if the stud can be backed out, yet do not want to damage threads. Thanks for an possible ideas! :)

Probably dripping down from above, maybe from underneath the intake manifold area, at the cam box seal. :?:

If its on the distributor side check the o ring seal at the base of the distributor. They tend to harden with heat and the oil can leak or spray out and leak down.

Thank you for the replies. I am going to loosen the mount bolts, clean behind the mount. It may be old oil & grease that was heated, dispersed and looked like a leak. There is no oil from above and the dip stick is clean. There is an old oil leak from near the valve cover that likely dripped in the past resulting in this. Thanks again. :)
