hello
i was just thinking about the coming winter and a new project.
a buddy of mine has a fiat 130 with a 3.2 v6 engine wich he is going to sell in parts, and i was thinking if it's possible
to fit the v6 engine in my spider
i know its a lot of work but because the in and outlet is switched .
has anyone done this before?
does this fit????

Sorry I can't help -- I am not aware of anyone that has gone to that V6. The twin cam Fiat motor is such a sweet, versatile engine, very few people have done swaps to something other than another twin cam.

I'm with John. That would increase straight line speed, but I bet the handling and balance of the car would suffer greatly.I have seen a couple v8 conversions so the 3.2 would probably fit. The V8 owners were having driveline issues ,and both were''tubbing'' the cars to get Ford 9'' diffs under.Interesting idea...just have a stock Spider standing by to enjoy!

Re: does this fit????
hello
getting parts is not the problem, I live in the netherlands and there are plenty parts available here,
a half hour drive away there is a shop where they sell every part of old fiat's ,lancia's and alfa's. nos parts and new ones, straight from italy.
in summer weekend's we often go to italy ourselves to buy parts (it'an 8 hour drive)
The weight problem is an issue, i saw the engine yesterday and i think it could fit, but its much heavier, and even more work to make it fit.
i'll think about it .

Re: does this fit????
One of the weak points is the front crossmember and the captive nuts inside the front unibody. Adding that much weight to the stock parts is asking for frame cracks and failure.
