Bolt on FI Plenum

Post by budzinsk »

Hi Everyone. I was finally able to get my 84 Spider running this weekend thanks to some kind members of this forum. The engine runs well, but I heard a loud vacuum leak. It turns out I am missing a bolt on the intake plenum. I found a pic that someone else's intake plenum - see the bolt below. 3 Questions: 1. Are there any sources for this bolt , I could not find a source anywhere, new or used. 2. Does someone have a picture of this bolt on its own outside of the plenum? I can try and get a match with some of my spares. 3. What does this port do?

Thanks
Rob

that is an air bypass screw that is used to set idle speed. It is a special bolt with an o-ring to seal it.

In the past, I've seen this item offered by vendors, but I don't see it at this time. I'm sure someone here has an extra. It's kind of important. :)

Thanks Guys... I went through the pictures I had when I got the car and started the restoration, and it looks like there was a rubber plug in there (which I still have). At least I am glad I did not lose that special bolt - it looks like I never had it..... If anyone has one, please let me know.
Thanks,
Rob

Midwest has this plug, but this is for the AFM and not the throttle housing. It will not work, correct?

I've had good luck with this vendor. Send them a picture of the hole your missing idle adjustment screw should be in. That way you can be sure the two of you are talking about the same item.

Bradley Artique has a free and downloadable pdf called FIAT 124 Engine Maintenance and Modification. There my be a picture of this screw in his pdf.

something like this...

There's a chance that I have one, but I won't be able to check until Saturday. PM me if you need me to look.
