1592cc overbore

Post by djape1977 »

has anyone overbored a 1592cc engine to 84mm pistons making it 1756?
i know it's theoretically possible, but i don't know if cylinder walls are thick enough

shouldn't be a problem, we've been boring 1.8 and 2L motors to 86mm

According to PBS ENGINEERING publication this is not possible due to a difference in the water jacket on the 1592.

overboring by 2mm - no prob, but by 4 has me worried.
from what i can feel when i stick my finger down water hole, there's not that much material there. that's why i'm asking for hands on experience. owner wants this engine block, as it is original for his car, yet i'm looking into increasing power output, which is easiest to achieve by increasing displacement.
