Mechanic's Work in Question

I had some work done with Mechanic #1.

Now, Mechanic #2 (which has proven to be the real article-pm me
for details) says #1 did some things wrong.

Here are my concerns w/M#1:
1. Lower Ball Joints-Is there supposed to be a grease
fitting on these?-M#1 replaced these and did not provide one.
Is there supposed to be one? M#2 says yes indeed!

2. Brake Lines-Installed by M#1-(front):
M#2 has shown me how these lines
actually make contact (on full turn) with the coil (drivers side)
and the tire (Pass side) and that the lines
were installed upside down (the banjo
end is pointing upwards-not down like they are
supposed to).

What is the proper length for the front lines?
I am going back to M#1 on Monday and I want to be
prepared.

very few of the ball joints come equipped with zerk fittings. It really depends on which mfg made the bj's that you got. Most are sealed units that don't require greasing (lifetime lube?, how do you measure life?)

brake hoses should be pointed slightly down at the caliper. Originally there was a lock that fit over the banjo bolt that ensured the hose was located properly. If the lock is missing and the hose contacts the coil it will probably cause the bolt to loosen over time

most of the brake problems I encountered were due to a mech 1 situation. Your brake brackets could be installed on wrong sides? also the hoses could need "rotated" to loop in correct position. I wouldnt allow mech 1 to work on again! :roll:
